This Norwegian power trio have been puzzling promotors, copywriters and listeners since their debut in 2011 with the question “what do we call this music”? Too rock for jazz, too jazz for rock… Doomjazz? Jazz metal? Simply jazz rock or fusion? Prog? To the curious, generous and open ears of the Gouveia Art Rock festival, it’s certainly really good music that rocks and grooves! You will enjoy the improvisations, nod your head and tap your feet, while smiling along with the band enjoying themselves onstage. The trio has become a favourite not only amongst enthusiastic audiences, but also with many writers of great taste, such as Sid Smith and others at Prog Magazine, and Hedvig Mollestad Trio regularly appear on “Best of the year” lists, and rightly so. Hedvig Mollestad is an exceptional guitarist, merging taste and technique and she is accompanied by a rhythm section that is tight and flexible at the same time. |
